The Batavia Photography Club offers the opportunity for its members to participate in both intra-club and outside competitions.  There are several types of competitions members can enter throughout the year as a means to evaluate and improve their photography.

Use the links at left to view current and previous years' competition results.

The Batavia Photography Club is a member of the NFRCC (Niagara Falls Regional Camera Clubs).   The NFRCC is a group of camera clubs located in Southern Ontario and Western New York.  Through our association with the NFRCC, there are 2 major competitions, the McKellar Competition and the Golden Horseshoe competition, that the Batavia Photography Club competes in as a group against the other member clubs of the NFRCC.

In-Club Competitions

The Batavia Photography Club is divided into 4 divisions (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond) based on each individual's experience and skill level as a photographer.  There are separate competitions in each division, Monochrome Print, Color Print, and Digital.  Throughout the year, club members compete against those in their division.

McKellar & Golden Horseshoe
Competitions

Member Clubs of the NFRCC compete against each other in the McKellar and Golden Horseshoe competitions.  Individual club members submit digital images for consideration by an in-club committee which selects and submits the final images to the Region.  The Region sends the images to an outside-the-region three-judge panel.  Scores are combined to get a club score which is then ranked against other NFRCC club totals.

These are the Region’s Submission Guidelines:

1.      Images should be submitted as JPEG files.

2.      Maximum pixel dimensions should be 768 pixels on the long side (this will ensure that both vertical and horizontal images will projects as the same size image.)

3.      Color space should be sRGB.

4.      Resolution:  should remain constant when image is resized.

5.      Image quality; highest quality JPEG to fit maximum file size.

6.      File size: Based on re-sampling when images are resized, the file size should average approximately 400 kb.
